Individuals reentering society from incarceration and those with criminal records face many barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment. Attendees of this program will learn about preparing a client with a criminal history record seeking employment in facilities regulated by NY Department of Health to understand the background check process and how to respond to pending or final denials of employment.

This program is appropriate for attorneys and advocates that work with populations with criminal records including human service programs, vocational experts, reentry programs, parole and probation offices, public benefits advocates, legal service attorneys and criminal defense attorneys.

We anticipate that 1.5 credit hour of transitional or non-transitional CLE credit will be earned for this program in the area of Professional Practice.
