Cultivating the Next Generation of Public Interest Lawyers through Law School Partnerships and Collaboration
LawNY historically works with Law Schools in New York State to provide hands-on experience and legal services internships to law students. In recent years, LawNY has expanded this program and hosted law students in-person and virtually from around the country. In 2019, our rural offices in Bath and Olean hosted several law students from Stanford Law School. Yearly, through staff law school alumni efforts we've hosted students from Roger Williams University School of Law that have assisted with our Consumer Law Projects and Family Law practice. In March, we virtually hosted University of California Hastings School of Law students for a week of service to LawNY clients.
We also are grateful for our local law schools that promote volunteer opportunities, public interest internships and externships to their students, such as Cornell Law School, Syracuse University Law School and University of Buffalo School of Law. We strive to provide an experience that allows volunteers to see the impact and need for legal services attorneys to improve outcomes for our communities.
