Law Graduates
Legal Assistance of Western New York, Inc. ® provides flexible and remote Pro Bono opportunities for Law Graduates seeking to complete the 50 hour Pro Bono requirement for admission to the New York State Bar. In line with former Chief Judge Lippman's initiative, we encourage Law Graduate volunteers to continue pro bono service after admission, in order to expand the number of admitted attorneys providing services to residents of our 14-county service area.
Working remotely can still fulfill the 50-Hour pro bono requirement for attorneys applying to enter the bar. It provides a flexible schedule with mostly online work and gives the opportunity to develop new skills or improve upon current research and writing skills. Some work that could be needed is:
1. Legal research
2. Writing briefs
3. Drafting or reviewing legal documents
4. Unemployment Benefit Insurance denials
5. Hardship Discontinuance Applications and Negotiations
